an Abralon question
« on: October 05, 2006, 10:46:51 AM »
Hey Group
Ok, so I am the proud new owner of a ball spinner two nights ago I used a
1000 grit Abralon pad on my "The One"

and last night I shot 5 games with it so here is my question. Is it alright to use the 1000 grit Abralon pad again on it or should I wait awhile to use it?

I'm guessing that probably if I use it kinda lightly that it would be ok but I thought I might as well check with you guys first  'charlest' are you in yet???

Also, with my purchase of my ball spinner I also got these Abralon pads
(1) 180 grit
(1) 360 grit
(1) 500 grit
(1) 1000 grit

so would you suggest some higher grit pads or will these do me just fine? and
would it be ok to maybe get some wet/dry sandpaper of the same grit as they are waaaay cheaper??

thanks group for your help,
Jake

contact gilaz33 on on here pm him, 5 games the ball is fine i dont think it needs to be touched yet. 1000 on the one is quite low considering it is 4000 and then polished, so i guess you are playing deep or on a flooded lane. You should get a few 2000's and 1-4000 he is the best place for small orders.

They last awhile because they just become finer as they wear out so far i have not thrown away any, 1000 becomes 11,12,1300 so on. The duller the pad the faster they lose there cutting power imo so 180 and 360 wear faster but 360 is the lowest i have ever started with in my case.

I have never 'counted' the times I use a pad, but I'll usually feel it and if it's not 'normal', then I'll remark it and use it a few more times at the new grit. Example, a 1000 pad, when it doesn't feel right becomes a 1500, give or take for a couple more balls, then it's out. If I want a true 1500 finish, I'll hit the las few revs with a new 1500 SB, just to make sure the finish. That works for everything but a 4000 pad, that one I usually use the foam backing to apply polish with a few times then it's gone.

I will say, they last a lot longer than sandpaper, which I don't use any more, but that's just me. What works for you might be different, but it's just my suggestion.

Having a few 180-4000 is always a good idea. If you have any questions, just yell, I'll do my best to answer them.
