What do you mean with "metal polish"... I am not native spoken English so I just wonder if
1. a polish for metal
2. a polish using metal
is meant.

For case 1. is meant I would say there is not much differenc compared to the normal abrasive polsihes... Maybe even better cause if the polishing particles are a tad bigger than the pores of the ball (and everytime this is true!) than the polish should not block the pores.

I think this is case for beans secret sauce.

So I see no problem.

On the other case 2. I can't imagine.

I found that some polishes are working on solvation processes and block the pores and I don't think a polish for metal contains anything wroking that way....

Should work, especially when it contains a fine grit abrasive, e. g. for a kitchen sink or cooking pots. ceramic hob cleaner works fine, too, and it also sucks up any oil from the ball's surface and leaves a matte but very fine surface.
