Answer my question or else!!!...Or else what? Exactly!!...
« on: April 27, 2004, 05:26:18 AM »
OK, well, I just bought a used Nail urethane...now, I'm not sure of box conditon (dull/shiny), but if i was going to use this as a spare/burnt lane ball, would it be too strong for spares if I keep it dull, or would I still be able to use it for dry lanes if it was polished?  I'm not from the old Nail days, so someone with experience help.

Thanks.

Depends on the more on the lenght of the oil on the lanes you will be playing.

I sometimes used urethanes for sparing.  On long oil, with speed the urethane will behave like a plastic ball and offer no bite.  but on shorter oil, the ball will start to turn, albeit only a slow, soft arc.  I usually keep my urethanes in the 1200 grit range, and sort of let it roll onto the pin/s.  Shiny and it might suddenly turn at the last moment.

Hope this helps.

get a plastic for spares and corner pins.  then you can rev it, rip it, flop it, or let it roll directly where you want it.

Ah, so just keep it at a high grit....that makes sense.  I guess I should have thought of that, but I guess it's one of those things where only someone on the outside could see it...

Thanks.
