I know there is a post about Trizact pads somewhere in this forum, but it lacks a grit tarnslation for the VERY fine Cerium Oxide pad which was used for Brunswick balls for a while.
Can the Trizact finish be directly translated into a high-gloss polish, or is there a sanding grit which can match up with the Cerium Oxide pad? Thanks!

There isn't a micron size rating for it, so you can't convert it to a grit rating and I have never found a rating for it, even looking through 3M's documentation. I would say it is in the neighborhood of 3500-4000 since it feels smoother than 3000 to the touch.
It is considered a polishing pad and not an abrasive.

let's say this about the cerium oxide pad: it is so fine that it appears to put a medium gloss polish on those Brunswick balls using the VERY hard particles.Technically I've heard anything from 2500 grit( sounds  abit low to me) to 10,000 grit (which sound a bit high); I'd guess the best estimate was in the 3500 - 5000 grit range.

By the way, this was the finish of choice for most of the Brunswick particle balls. Those particles were so hard, this super fine finish was almost necessary even for medium-heavy to heavy oil.

One of the only Brunswick particle based balls without the Cerium oxide finish was the Lane#1 Super Carbide Bomb which used the dullest one, the 35 micron (360 grit) finish; I think it was the Green one, which I only used for re-surfacing these particle balls.

the literature that came from brunswick when the trizact pads came out put the cerium oxide pad at appx. 10,000 grit.
