Rubber Baby

I grew up in the urethane/polyester age, so I never got to use a rubber bowling ball.  I've did some reading, and have heard others say that they are the spare ball to have....why?  Harder than polyester, less friction....hold up better?  Just looking for some answers.  I've recently seen some rubber balls on ebay, some AMF and Brunswick oldies, which rubber balls were the best?

Toddace1 -- There wasn't really much difference between the hook of rubber and plastic balls, plastic might hook just a little more.  Also wasn't much difference between the various rubber ball manufacturers.  The Brunswick Black Beauty and Black Diamond balls were probably the hardest ever made.  A lot of bowlers swore by the Manhatten Rubber balls.  The best game and series I've ever had (300, 784) were shot using a Black Diamond over the 17 board.  --  JohnP
