I use it after drilling to clean any dust/small particles off the ball. It does a nice job. If I have a customer's ball that just needs a good cleaning,, I'll also use it before Clean N Dull, just to get the "big" stuff off first.

I use a mixture of equal parts of Simple Green, rubbing alcohol, and water for most routine ball cleaning in the shop.  I have several other ball cleaners and have used them after the mixture, but could see no additional dirt on the paper towel.  However I have not tried this with Track Clean and Tacky that has been so highly rated here.  --  JohnP

i've used a mixture of simple green/alcohol/water for years. gets off just about any kind of grime/mark i've come across. plus it costs a lot less than cleaners made for bowling balls.

I don't see why not.. the alcohol is added to shorten the amount of time for drying...

The alcohol also helps to remove belt marks and other surface grime.  --  JohnP

despite claims made by the companies about their products most cleaners do just that----clean the surface of the ball. that's a good start. if you can extract the lane oil with the use of a rejuvenator or revivor that's even better.
