Looking into getting a ball spinner to start changing cover stocks myself.
Just wondering which ones you guys would recommend.

Vertex mold or Donkee. Innovative spinners are more more pricey and best for a pro shop.

I probably should have put the following questions in the orginal post, but...
What about horse power and variable speeds?
Is there a real need for a high and low for typical maintenance and cover stock changes?
Is 1/3 hp enough of is 1/2 really that much better?
thanks

I think you can do everything you need to with a single speed. However, if you like gadgets, get the one with the most bells and whistles, ie, two speed.

Those that can do. Those that can't complain. Pimpin ain't easy, but it's mandatory.
Most things we like, we don't need. Most things we need, we don't like. Don't confuse your likes with your needs.

For home use, 1/3 hp Vertex .
For shop use, Innovative.

It's really about torque, RPM next and HP is third in my book.
Torque is gonna keep it from getting bogged down while polishing. High Speed could be useful if you have the torque to keep the ball turning.

I have had the Donkee and Vertex and the Vertex is a much better unit IMO with little to no vibration. The Donkee vibrates badly. I have a 1/2 hp model and it works just fine. Its only a single speed but that has never been a problem. They also have GREAT customer service.
Get the Vertex 1/2 hp unit, you won't be sorry.

I have a 1/2hp vertex that I believe I bought from buddies? and the price was really hard to beat.
I have used this spinner a LOT and it never complains. VERY satisfied and would recommend them.

Another vote for the Vertex Mold. I've had the 1/2 hp unit since Nov. and use it all the time. Very little wobble and it has done everything I expected & wanted. Got mine from Buddies and their price w/ free shipping was too good to pass up (plus their customer service is excellent). Just my 2 cents...

What I like about the Vertex spinner is the portability, its great to take on the road to tournaments as well.

Yeah but if your really "innovative" you can build one like I did. The only thing is the cup for the ball is a pain to make. I have had it and used it regularly for 3 years now. A little bit of vibration, but if your careful which you have to be with any spinner your fine.

Vertex are top notch, I have one at home and the local pro shop guy has nothing but good to say about the Vertex after switching from a Donkey.
