Polish Question

Can anyone point me to an article that extols the various benefits of different polishes for balls. I am thinking about shining up my Blue hammer and playing around with the surface of it to turn it into my dry lane ball or the next step down after the Rogue gets to be too much for the lanes. Right now I have it so rough it is not much of a step down from the Rogue. I grabbed it the other night in league when I was starting to have trouble keeping the Rogue on the right side of the pins and it was still pretty aggressive. Less than the big boy but still hooking hard. I am trying to decide what to do with it and what surface to put on it and am looking for a report or article or just some words from the guys here to give me an idea. Thanks.

Just an FYI.....if an original Blue Hammer these particular balls are hard to change surfaces on.   Adding polish is not as hard as taking it down.

I had taken about an 80 grit sheet of sandpaper and hand sanded it down then smoothed it with a green scotchbrite. It definitely hooks like this but I would like to use it as my stepdown ball but not sure how to approach it.

80 grit? Are you sure?
If so, I suggest this is far too rough. The green nylon pad is about 600 grit. If you first sanded it to 80 grit, the green pad did not have any effect on the 80 grit grooves.

If you don't have a spinner, you need to take it to your pro shop, tell them what you did and ask them to take to at least 600 grit in the appropriate steps. Then try it on the lanes again. If it's still too early, ask them to take it to 1000 grit.

Yes, agreed but it did accomplish what i was looking for at the time. I wanted an aggressively hooking ball and it did that. Since I now have the Rogue Cell, I want to turn this into a medium oil or lower ball. I am still new to bowling and can only compensate so much with the Rogue before I can no longer keep it anywhere near the pocket in the third game. I am looking for a polish and new surface prep for the Blue Hammer to accomplish this. I was really just looking for a comparison of polishes to try and determine what brand to use when I do change the ball. What helps give what reaction in general so i can match it to my style of play.
