Best Way to Polish by Hand
« on: October 31, 2009, 01:06:16 AM »
Since I don't use a spinner and prefer to do it by hand, what do most of you bowlers use when polishing and found most effective (terry cloth, cotton, microfiber, back of abralon pad, adding water or Energizer cleaner)? I guess my issue has been polishing and still leave abit of the residue on the balls due to letting it haze for a moment. Not sure if it's the polish I'm using, not applying a tad of water or cleaner with it or needing a better cloth?

There's no way you can get as good a polishing job by hand as on a spinner.  Now, maybe if you used a car polishing buffer . . .  --  JohnP

This is true.  A spinner will give you virtually a glass look.  I used to have an issue with that when I first started doing it.  Eventually, I used a smaller amount on one half of the ball, and let it sit for no more than one minute.  After that I used a microfiber towel with a small amout of water and then did the other side.  I''d then put one more coat on each side and then that''s it.

It came out pretty well, but not as glassy as a spinner would again.
