Black Widow Coverstock help!
« on: December 21, 2006, 02:26:06 PM »
Guys i've got a question for you all.

I recently got a Black Widow and have cleaned it after everyset as the sucker seems to absorb oil like a sponge and I wanted to maintain it but it never came out shiny.

I took it into the pro shop and used the spinner and some black magic rejuvinator as normal sprayed a few shots cleaned the ball as normal but it can out shiny.

I know it wasn't something on the pad/rag and I'm not the only kid who had the same thing happen as my buddy cleaned his at his house and it shined up.

Is there something with the Black Widow that the ball becomes shiny from cleaning it or what is going on??

Note, I used black magic rejuvinator by hand to clean it before I took it in and used the spinner.

I have cleaned several for friends, always used Clean N Dull and sll of them came out dull, as OOB, after I was finished. Nothing special done, just as directions say, so other than use Clean N Dull, I can't imagine why you got the result you have.

i own a black widow and a hawzilla, and i didn't touch the surface with any abralons or scotchbrites for a couple months, wiht me cleaning the ball after every time I bowl, and they both started to take a shine to them like there was a light coat of polish on them. I also started noticing more length before the turn. I have heard this before from other people with these two balls, also this happens to the No Mercy, it is the coverstock they use. And on all 3 they use a very similar coverstock.

This sounds different from magicmike's problem. He got a shine from a cleaner. Yours sounds like the cleaner did not remove the oil buildup on the surface. After a while, it becomes an oil shine. You may need a stronger daily cleaner to insure all the oil is removed from the surface before the ball makes it part of THE surface.

These Ones, Black Widows, No Mercys are major league oil suckers. They need immediate attention of an every-use basis. Try the really strong cleaners like Legends cleaner, or Track's Clean and Dull.

Hey charlest, to respond to your pm and everyone else I hit it with a 4000 pad lightly today and dulled it back a bit and used clean and tacky (same as clean and dull) and it stayed dull this time, i normally use the track stuff i just didn't have it with me.

Good, Mike.

I'd suggest using as strong a cleaner s that after every session, just because of that cover's VERY high oil absorption rate.

Try Track power wash gets out all dirt and oil build up on the coverstock. Gives you great tackyness on the ball for better hooking power.
