Blast Zone Help
« on: December 11, 2008, 09:34:16 AM »
Hey all,

I have had a problem with my blast zone not hooking the way it used to. I was wondering what you all could suggest... ok heres the story, the ball is used, Had it replugged n redrilled Pin up Between fingers. I have thrown it a few times, but it seems to just go too long before it grabs.. I had it at box, and it was still going too long. I put it at 360 abralon and it still went a little longer than I wanted. some suggested that its running out of energy too fast. I had people suggest Put some polish or rough buff on it. so I tried 360 + rough Buff, and it still seems like its going too long. So I decided to ask on here to see what people suggest. I am up for anything =) gimme suggestions

Being used you might want to find a shop with a revivor, see how much oil has been sucked up.

I second the Revivor idea. Hot water baths are a temporary substitute. We routinely have balls bleed oil for 6-8 hours in ours. No hot water bath is going to remove oil like that.

After the oil extraction it's always good to do a light resurface job too.

After seeing your PAP (profile) that's not a good pin placement for you unless the lanes are pretty dry. It seems like the ball is probably "spinning" all the way there. Before re-drilling it, I would try 1000-2000 abralon on the surface. My thinking is that at 360 (unless you rev rate is extremely high) the ball could not respond to friction fast enough. So you went from one extreme (super dull) to the other (shiny, when you consider your PAP and pin placement).

I suspect that a new 2000 abralon pad on higher speed with water, or an older 2000 pad at slower speed with water may get you close. Good luck.

I agree with notclay that it is not a good pin placement for you unless the lanes are dry. On the other hand, MB in that position, with your PAP, should make the ball get into roll pretty early. An extra hole for "flare separation" or "flare increasing" may help WITH the proper surface adjustment.

I would check the statics and put an x-hole into MB if possible and (after Revivor) start with a fresh 1000 abralon for the surface adjustments..

Good luck and don't forget to update us..
