Valentino's Resurrection Question
« on: November 20, 2009, 02:27:05 PM »
I know that the Resurrection is supposed to finish a ball at 800 grit. I use it some and let me say that it can make a ball look like NIB but whether it is 800 grit, I don't know. I also know that if used lightly on a spinner, the ball can have a Matte look and if used a bit on the heavy side, the ball can have a bit of a shine.

Here is what I did today, but haven't tried the ball yet. I took my Gamebreaker of which I had a 2000 Grit surface on it and used the Resurrection on it with pressure maybe a wee bit heavier than medium pressure, using a Meguiars Foam Polishing Pad. I worked the ball a bit longer than I normally do and on 4 sides. When done the ball looked really-really great as if it was NIB. It had a bit of light shine to it....My question about all of the detail I haved furnished is....is the ball 800 grit or could it be more like 2000 or 3000 grit?

If you use enough pressure on a spinner, the silica beads will actually break down even smaller and create that sheen surface. I would take a guess that the surface on the ball is 2000 grit.

Thanks Kevin. That is kind of how it looks and is what I was hoping it might be. I'll find out when I throw it next week. The Meguiars Foam Polishing Pad works great for me on the the Resurection. This Polishing Pad works great on polish too. Just seems to cover the ball more even than a towel.

Anyhow my question is answered that you can get finer than 800 grit if you want to work it longer/harder with the Resurection and it does a beautiful job of making the balls look NIB. No way can sandpaper or Abralon pads make the ball look that good.

I will have to agree with this stuff being very good stuff. It is now my baseline finish before polishing. Seems to work really well.

For a while I use to use a lot of pressure thinking that is the only way to get the beads to really adjust the surface, it always came out to a nnice sheen, sometimes high sheen. Now easy oressure for about 15 seconds comes out the way 800 would look if it were down abralon style.

Valentino just makes great products. Wish they woiuldn't have stop selling their pads. Those were way longer lasting than abralon.

Kevin i want to knpw how you use Resurrection your self. What is your methods and what do you use it on. I have been using a wash rsg, but it seems like there could be better methods. I dont know how the way I have used it can deep clean the ball as well.

I don''t know if this is good or not, but I have been pretty happy with the finish using a damp white 3M scotchbright pad to apply Resurrection.

I use a terry cloth towel, about a quart size of Resurrection and a few squirts of water. I use the two sided method when using Resurrection and always go against my track with a medium pressure for 20 to 30 seconds.

Kevin, does my using a Meguiars Foam Polishing Pad to apply Resurrection make the surface smoother than when using a Terry Cloth Towel?

I use one of these pads to apply Snake Oil or any other polish also.

A round thick foam pad.

I'll have to play around with our test ball. I am not to sure on the results, my thought is the silica particles get trapped in the nooks and crannies of the pad causing the more polished surface.

Kevin, you may be right there. I never thought about that happening. That may be why I couldn't get my Gamebreaker to look like I wanted it to look a few days ago. On the other hand, it did a good job of making my Dynamo a bit shiny and look like I wanted it to look although I haven't thrown it yet since using the Resurrection on it.

Maybe use a Terry Cloth Towel if you want the ball Mattee and a Meguiars Foam Polishing Pad if you want it a bit on the shiny side? Of coarse if the foam pad makes a difference, I doubt the ball would be 800 grit though like it would be with the Terry Cloth Towel...?

Yes, the actual surface of the ball using the pad would be higher since it is getting let friction from the particles.

I re-did the ball last night using a terry cloth towel this time and it was indeed a big difference compared to using the foam polishing pad. With the foam polishing pad, there were no noticeable outstanding sanding type lines, but with the terry cloth towel, there were.
