C300 Outburst - Help with getting back to OOB surface
« on: January 23, 2014, 02:54:59 PM »
My teammate's C300 Outburst seems to have lost it's usual pop, so I have offered to help him out and try and refresh it for him by baking it and resurfacing it back to OOB on my spinner.

However, the OOB surface is listed as 800-800-1000-1000 Abralon.  I'm not sure what that means when the grits are listed twice like these are.  Do I do something like 800 firm - 800 light - 1000 firm - 1000 light?  Any suggestions on what to do to get back to OOB?  Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure it means anything special. If you want it 800 grit, you do it at 800 grit with 4 sides. It's more important that, as a base coat or grit level, you erase all signs of a previous sanding. You may actually want to start with 500 grit depending on the condition of the surface. Then I'd use the 1000 grit pad (fresh one) to make sure you remove all 800 grit sanding lines. I only say this because they  did a double sanding with each grit pad.

All things considered, 1000 grit is pretty rough starting point for bowling, for most people.

I have one and i do like how even rolling and strong it is
but i cant use it at 1000 dull.
A Lot of new pieces these days have a low surface grit and then polish over the top of it.
Unless he bowls on a high volume shot, i wouldn't leave it at 1000 dull.
