Checking for lane oil
« on: March 16, 2004, 12:06:43 AM »
It suddenly occurred to me the other night that if you center has Cosmic style bowling that the lane oil glows. Sure enough, I held my ball under a black light and the lane oil in the ball track was clearly visible. So taking out the mop bucket and Dawn I soaked the ball and then checked it. Better but not gone. So I soaked it again . While it was soaking I pulled the ball from the bucket and ran my hands around the ball track and was getting a gooey material that glowed, probably lane oil. So rubbing around the track for a little while and letting it soak some more, I then took it out sprayed it with Simple Green and dried it off. Gave it one more check and it was pretty clean. Then taking the light over the water you can see the oil glow in the water. If you have one of those cheap Spencer gift lights you can now put it to good use.
