I use clean and dull about every 10-15 games on a ball. Question is am i doing it right, because I never see any grime or whatever you want to call it. I think it is just that i clean my balls after every time I bowl good and it hasn't soak up that much.

The way I do it is I first sqeeze a line half away around the ball, take my hand smear it all around on that half of the ball keep smearing it on the ball not letting it dry up for about 30-45 seconds, then i take a damp rag or towel and turn the spinner on and clean the ball off for about 20 secons. Then use the dry side of the towel.

My ball comes out very tacky and has a duller look to it, more like right out of the box type look. I just never have any grime on my towel. Anyone else experience this. Just wanting to see if I am doing this right.

I certainly hope that's not your bare hand with which you spread the C&D. I use a thick rubber glove and a paper towel, folded in 1/3s to spread about 1/4 - 1/5 as much as you do, about a quarter sized dollop, on 1/2 the ball at a time. I keep wiping by hand with the paper towel, until it mostly dries. Then I use a wet paper towel to remove the residue. Then a dry paper towel to remove the wetness. It's always super-tacky when I finish.

Mine rarely removes a lot of dirt. It, I assume, removes some oil from just beneath the outer surface.

All the bottles I have seen have directions. Bare hands are NOT recommended. I use like charlest does about a dime or quarter size 'pile or drop' , rub it over 1/3 to 1/2 the ball, let it dry to an almost point then wet rag take it off. Dry towel to finish up. Turn the ball do again. All the rags/towels have grime, dirt oil what ever you want to call it and I'm done with that part.

Got some other things I do but Clean N Dull is about the best I have tried so far to get the oil out without using a powder, like CPR or hot water bath.

i get very littel dirt/grime/oil when i use it. still noticeable on a white cloth. i use C&D after about 20 games, i do clean the ball with track power wash after every set. cleaning it after every set will minimize what you get off with C&D. but you should still get some dirt/grime/oil off of the ball. I use C&D pretty much the way charlest does.

Actually I do use my bare hand haha. I am a diesel mechanic, so that is the least I am worried about getting on my hands. But I guess I will start wearing some kind of glove.

The line I squeeze across it is pretty thin prolly same as you guys in being about a nickel to quarter sized drop.

I have yet to lose reaction on anything I have thrown, that i am aware of, so I am assuming my procedures are working fine, was just wondering what your guy's towels look like afterward.

clean n dull should be used IMO by the method you originally described.

I had a ball that i let soak in oil and then put it in the closet (a practice session). the track and 3 spots turned white from the oil. tried 3 products and it still remained white... this included clean n dull. then I tried again by not letting it dry up and just rubbing and rubbing AND rubbing. I could see the white/oil becoming dark again. the trick with cnd is to not let it dry up like it wants to.

cnd is the best that I have ever tried but I wouldnt take it with me to the lanes. I wont take anything with me anymore aas I had someone throw a ball into my bag causing cleaner to soak EVERYTHING in my bag. now I only clean them at home.

Sorry, icewall, I must disagree very strenuously UNLESS this involves Visionary, Lanemasters or DT Soaker coverstocks. Balls MUST be cleaned immedtiately after bowling and not a moment later.

With those 3 balls types, yes, I'd let cleaning go until I got home, and being an LM/Visionary user, I do, indeed, do that, without fear.
