Abralon shape?
« on: October 07, 2006, 06:30:20 AM »
The standard shape that most everyone notices at pro shops are the round pads.  For woodworking they have rectangular pads.

For use on a spinner is it really going to make a difference?

do you have an internet webpage/url that's selling the rectangular abralon pads for wood working? Are they true Abralon brand?

Not a wood working specific site, but it does show the rectangular abralon pads...

Thanks, Jon, but I was looking for one in the US. Those square ones I've only seen on UK websites. There are non-abralon sanding foam squares, but they are expensive and don't last as long as Abralon.

FYI Square/rectangular ones are better for hand sanding of wood. ROund ones seem better suited for balls on the spinner. They just feel right, each for its job.

I've cut the 6" standard Abralon pads into quarters when sanding smaller pieces of aluminum (& other metals) sheets.
