Scotch brites will not, i reapeat will not give you more backend, it creates a bigger "overall" hook, but it will roll much earlier. The only way to truly get backend back is to rejouvanate the ball (done at your local proshop). Also depends on the ball, what kind of ball is it?

AM not A CHICK OF BOWLING but I wanted to be in Manda's clique And why would I "saw" pins in half, THATS A WASTE OF PINS! I'd rather blow it over with my storm, and 21mph ball speed on dry shots.

Give it a good cleaning first.  Hook-It, Liquid Nitro, Simple green...  If you have an established track, give it a quick resurface if you have a spinner.  Sand to 400 to remove the track, then 600, maybe even 800.  If there is no track, skip right to a fresh coat of polish.  Storm Extra #2, Black Magic...  Shiny balls need to be repolished.  How often will depend on the type and conditions of your lanes.
