Control-it polish
« on: October 25, 2012, 09:14:33 AM »
How do you apply this polish? Can I just apply it on and shine it with a spinner?

The instructions says "spread even coat, allow haze to form, wipe off with clean cloth...".

Seems quite different from what I have done up until now with other polishes.

It is a different polish. You can use a spinner to get the shine part of it, but the major purpose of Control-It is to block the pores of the resin and reduce the absorption of oil. It has what is termed a "slip agent". The result of applying Control-It is not only a shine for more length but also reduced overall hook and reduced backend.

While the shine may dull over time, the slip agent can only be removed by sanding with a relatively rough abrasive like a P500 or P1000 grit sanding pad or the equivalent sandpaper.

I understand the chemistry part. But I wish to know how to apply it the proper way...

The proper way is to follow the instructions on the bottle, as always. It tells you exactly what to do.

+1 with Charlest. With the slip agent in control-it, you want to be careful as to how much you apply because you can dramatically reduce the reaction of the ball. A small amount in a towel, wipe on by hand, a little water to help, buff off with low speed on the spinner and light hand pressure.
