Convection Ovens = Rejuvenators
« on: December 19, 2008, 12:03:17 AM »
Aren’t any of the pro shop’s rejuvenators really just a form of a convection oven? Don’t they just move heated air around inside? If this is true, then why would anyone pay over $1600.00 for the pro shops model when they could buy the one I’ve linked below? Wouldn't it work exactly like the pro shop’s model?

I've never used the Rejuvenator, but the Revivor is definitely different because it rotates the ball constantly, so the warm air never stays on one spot for more than a few seconds at a time.

The convection oven says it has only 4 temperature settings. Our Revivor and be adjusted in 1 degree increments, although we usually have it set at 140 degrees. It also doesn't say what the minimum temperature setting is (unless I missed it).

The Lowes link you provided appears to be a microwave type oven. It is listed at $119 and cannot be a really true convection oven that is reliable as true quality microwave comvection ovens run in the $700 range and up. I doubt even then I would ever trust my ball in a microwave oven.

I do my balls in a convection oven at times, but my oven is a regular full size baking oven that all homes have, except it is convection and extremely even heating and controllable. These units run from approx. $1000 - $1500 depending on brand and quality and a double oven with a lower regular oven and a convection upper oven cost approx. $2000 - $2500 depending on brand and quality.

When I take my ball out of my convection oven, it is not hot....only warm and you can comfortably hold it in your hands as long as you want and it won't burn you or be too hot.

To sum it up, I would never put my ball in any type microwave oven, convection or not. Especially one that cost only $119.

I’m not saying that the Revivor isn’t better, but for an average joe it would be cheaper to spend $120 compared to $1600.

The low temp on the oven (I believe) is 140 and from what I’ve read that is about the temp to use. Also, the oven is a rotisserie version so it will turn the ball too.

I put my ball in the dishwasher on hot cycle including my Vertigo.  Have had the ball for over 3 years and it still looks brand new.  At least 1000 games on it as well including 1 year of wood lanes.

Berrez, see my post just above yours. That $120 oven may cost you a $200 ball.

My family has one of these "convection microwave" ovens. We paid about $140 for it three years ago, so I'm going to assume we're talking about similar things.

No way do I put a ball in it. We've never been able to cook food the way logic would dictate you should be able to. It takes longer to cook, and the temperature settings aren't exact. I think we've had some issues with evenness of cooking, too.

We don't use ours very much for convection cooking anymore. I guess you could buy one and try it out with a ball you don't care about, but I'd pass. I use the dishwasher method and have had no problems.

This is not the 1st time that I've heard of a Vertigo going 1000 games and still having a good reaction.

I've got an original X-Factor with probably 2,000 on it. It's had one trip to the dishwasher and one resurfacing in its whole life.
