Delaying Hook
« on: August 28, 2006, 12:34:03 AM »

Hello all,

What are some good products/ways to delay the reaction of a 1500 grit polished ball?

So far I know about Neo Tac's Control It and Track's Delayed Reaction.  Should I add something like that on top of the 1500 grit polish?

Sand it to 2000 or 4000 grit and add that layer of polish back on.

Try a suitcase release - will prolong the skid phase of the ball, but can become a bit erratic at the break point.

A flare reducing x-hole (above PAP) can also help tame down ball reaction and reduce overall hook, although it will not really delay the action, just tone it down a little.

Another thing to try is to remove the polish and apply a very high grit sheen surface, like 4.000 Abralon. This might also mellow the ball reaction when it hits the dry while keeping the overall hooking action. I found this to be a good setup when I need more control - but it depends on the coverstock, balls might react differently to this treatment.
