Cracked Ball
« on: August 21, 2004, 11:07:09 AM »
Ok well i have ever seen this and today i did.  I have a ball that has been setting in the closet for about 2 years and today i went in the closet and the ball had a crack all the way around it.  It was cracked all the way throught the coverstock, but didnt crack the core.  My question is what might have caused this to happen.  The closet wasnt hot or the ball also didnt get wet. Let me know what you have to think.

Thank You
Shawn

my teammates gave another persion a decent condition ebonite warrior and ON THE WAY HOME the ball cracked all the way around the ball....

its called expansion and contraction...due to heat and cold respectively..doesnt have to be much of a difference

I too have suffered this Phenomenon. Some cracked 360 degrees finger to finger, which makes more sense. Others cracked 360 degrees away from any drilled holes.

AMF Nighthawk Revenge
AMF Nighthawk M/2
Ebonite Vortex Afterburner
Ebonite Pantera
Columbia Beast with Mica solid

I don't know the actual cause. Like Mike said, they will sometimes just crack, even in a controlled environment.

Very expensive and usually at an inopportune time.

“I hate it when that happens”.
