I think what they were trying to tell you is to take a 2000 Abralon pad and with light pressure remove some of the polish from the ball by using circular motions around the ball.

Have you thrown the ball with the factory surface already?  If so and you found it to go too long, using the 2k Abralon pad will make it read the lane a bit earlier or hook earlier. 

I've never heard that term of 'cracking' the cover before.  I was imagining another post about a ball cover cracking when I first read the title.  Then I was thinking someone would be posting about using a chisel and hammer on a ball.  And if Storm ever brings out a ball with an Abalone fragrance, I will be sure to avoid it. 

I tried Abalone as a child and have avoided it ever since although many like it.  I am just not a fan of shellfish or snails.

And being that it's a Storm ball Hack jandy, it's going to crack.Sooner before later

.......  The one company I have never seen a ball crack from or even seen or heard about ball death is Brunswick.  I have a BVP Rampage with 1000+ games on it and still rolls like the day I bought it.   They might not always make the best cover stocks but they do seem to be damn durable from my experience.

Yeah I wish! Here you go only 2 mos ago was new old stock less than 6mos old since drill w/ only 15-20 games on it.

found a radical fix at the bowling alley today and was thinking why someone would leave it there. picked it up and there was a big crack right down the middle. i told my friend to use it for the 7 10 split.
