Coverstock comparison
« on: December 28, 2016, 03:48:37 PM »
Hi All:

Any ideas as to which cover is a stronger cover - that of the Hammer Phobia or Storm's Code Black?

Thx.

My guess is that the Semtex Pearl is slightly stronger than the R2S Pearl but I don't know if the difference would be noticeable. The Code Black seems to be a very well-liked ball by many and that's probably the safer bet. Thinking the Phobia has an earlier roll with a more rounded shape too.

OK, thanks for the feedback.  I hope to see some more videos of the Phobia (other than the one put out by Hammer) to see if there is miss room right.  The Code Black definitely has miss room right.

Miss room right is determined by so many things not just the ball. You have to factor in the bowler and lane conditions

But I do agree the cover on the Phobia should be slightly stronger

I would think the Phobia motion to be closer to the Dare Devil motion than the Code Black.
Current Rotation:
PhysiX
Code X
Code Black
Axiom Pearl
Phaze III

Well... it's funny that you guys are discussing this...

I had a guy that I drilled a Code Black for, throw my new Phobia and the Code Black is a bit cleaner down the lane than the my Phobia... He had to move 4 boards left with his feet when throwing my Phobia and it did read the lane about a foot earlier overall, so I think it is a little stronger overall. Both balls are a great fit for those looking for a stronger pearlized ball to move in during the transition period or for medium-heavier medium lane patterns when you need a little more length & angle at the end of the pattern.

Hope this helps a little bit...
