Any one use any of the newer CTD products?  I see since that purple stuff, there is so fresh and so clean tackifier, and that wow factor more hook, and that wow factor less hook.

Avoid it like the plague.  Just a scam, and so poorly executed I'm not sure how people even consider the stuff.

Like acetone or MEK which yes are USBC illegal.   The use of chemicals, or other methods, to change the hardness of the surface of the ball after it is manufactured is prohibited.  Cleaners may be used provided they are totally removed from the ball before delivery.  No foreign material may be placed on the outer surface of the ball.  The USBC testing protocol verifies that the chemical doesn't change the hardness of the bowling ball even after being put on one spot for an hour soaking and that no residue is left over from the cleaner (wow looks like they even use a spectrometer for their testing).  Now the USBC is not even going to allow cleaners during competition without tournament director approval.   If the products are approved more than likely fancy overpriced cleaners ala the Monster gold digital hdmi cable business model.  If not approved then its cheating.

(edit:  I would be very weary of any product that claims to change the coverstock
period and also without changing the hardness or leaving residue (only way to get approval).  Even if does what it says (not likely) who knows what the effect on the coverstock will be long term.  Snake oil.)

You can buy the same CTD pads from abralon.net for cheaper money. They are not a CTD exclusive as he likes to claim. I bought mine from abralon.net and I like them.

My Code X was pretty dead. I used Abralon pads to bring it down to 500g, then doused it with a heavy lather of Ebonite clean and dull, letting it sit for 90 seconds on each side. After wiping it off, I used some ball cleaner, then wet sand with 2000g and eventually up to about 3500.  Wow! It feels like a new ball.

I think the big thing is the products themselves aren't anything special, and Ron's marketing is loud, and  is doing a good job of garnering attention as we are all in here talking about it.

I'm not a buyer of the CtD products, but I did get my hands on some of the True Cut pads. I haven't used them enough to wear them out, but they seem nice so far. The P500D is acts like a very worn 4000 abralon pad, but with a more consistent finish, which is something I do like and would recommend others to use in place of polish (polish is very fickle in nature, and hard to replicate).

Ron may be polarizing it seems, but he is making an effort to help others get better and i'll always respect that. The pay to be on staff thing is funny to me, but it's obviously working as i've been to quite a few tournaments and seen his cleaner and CtD shirts around.
