Title: donkee ball spinner
Post by: rico4life on November 20, 2009, 05:06:43 PM
My donkee ball spinner started to spark and smoke tonite. It looks like the on/off switch is at fault. I was wondering if anybody else has had this problem, and how did you fix it, specifically where did you get a new switch from.

Mine went bad a few years ago. I just called donkee and they sent me one. I can't remember how much it was. I got the foot switch and haven't had a problem since.

I had a similar thing with my spinner, though it is not a Donkee.  I just wired straight through the corded switch and installed a foot switch, purchased for about $14.95 at The Shack.  Works great.

Those simple corded switches tend to build up carbon deposits on the contacts because of the nature of the contacts and the frequent on/off.  It gets worse over time.

mine just did that for the second time in the five years i've owned mine. so once again, i called donkee, & had them ship me another switch. i think it was around $7-$8. that's all you can do after warranty.

Take your old switch with you and go to your local hardware store. I have had a Donkey for 10 years and have replaced the switch 2 times. All you need is a good 2 speed toggle switch. You can also get them at Radio Shack.

I went to radio shack and they only had a 10a-125 vac and the old one was 15a-125 vac. The guy told me that it wouldn't hold up very long at all.

Just for info., I went to my local hardware store and bought a new switch that they had in stock, it cost me a whole$4.57 with tax, pretty inexpensive fix.

It should be a simple fix. Get the switch from Donk** and put it on.

Now, I caution you, DO NOT say Donk** Ball Spinner out loud on BR. It brings out the evil spirits.
