My old Mess Ti pulled me out of my third game blues last night, so I want to reward her with a paint job.

What do I need to buy to fill in the engraved logos on a ball?
TIA!

crayons? Hey it worked back in the urethane days and I am sure in the days before then...
-
Are oil crayons different from regular crayons? If so, would I get them at an art supply store?
Thanks!

seadrive -- For filling in engraved names, I use a paint stick available from any bowling supply house. I've never tried it on logos, but it should work. -- JohnP
-
I use touch-up paint that comes in all colours and in a small bottle with a builtin brush.

I use touch up paint that comes with a small tube (like a siringe neadle cut off) on the end. You can get them from Halfords here (UK).

regular oil crayons are the best things to use...paint would take too much time

i HAVE USED CRAYONS IN THE PAST , BUT I USED A SMALL BUTANE TORCH TO MELT THE CRAYON . I HELD THE CRAYON RIGHT OVER THE LOGO I WANTED TO COLOR AND LET IT DRIP INTO IT. WHEN I WAS FINSHED I JUST CLEANED THE EXTRA OFF THE BALL. IT HAS LASTED UP TO 5 YEARS. I JUST RETIRED A BLUE DOT THAT I COLORED THE LOGO IN ORANGE AND IT IS STILL THERE. JUST SOMTHING TO TRY.

I thought it was illegal to fill in logos?

Take a knife and scratch in the logo and it will take out the dirt and bring some of the original color back.

Deadman, why would you place sharp objects in the hands of unskilled operators?
You wanna clean out the impurities of ball markings, all of you CPL homies know what to use. One of the countless extra toothbrushes that clutter up your bathroom vanity. A little soap, water, and Oral B!

TheBowlingKid25 -- My understanding is that on the PBA tour it is illegal to obliterate the label. This discussion is about how to recolor the label so it can be seen better. -- JohnP

Oh, my fault, I thought he meant like, color it in, so you cant see it.

Thanks for the advice, guys and gals!

I tried using regular crayons last night. It works okay just running the crayon across the logo, but it's much smoother-looking when you melt it and let it drip in. Cleanup is a bit more difficult, though.
I'm going to see if I can find a Chinese grease pencil today. Thanks, Leftside!
