the ball will appear to get glossier if your underlying grit is high (such as 4000 grit ab)
I get the best results by following the video that valentino has on their site. which includes (for me) using a micro fiber towel and a spray bottle of water with plenty of snake oil. for me it helps to create a slightly higher gloss which helps the ball store just a little bit more energy for the break point without having it just skate thru.
BTW it looks like it was applied properly. snake oil is almost fool proof compared to other polishes. very easy to use.
