Well, everyone is different and everyone will do everything in the manner that fits him/her, having said that I find that where I bowl that there is oil for about one game and then after that it goes quickly
So this is where polish comes in, I find the polish does a couple of things for my equipment first it helps protect the ball from the no oil condition which is on any lane
secondly and most important (to me anyway) it makes the ball go much longer before it starts its turn for home (of course everything depends on how much polish is on the ball)
I bring a two ball roller to my leagues and in my current arsenal I have a high performance dull ball (or matte) then a high performance semi-polished and then two highly polished balls to combat the second and third game desert conditions
having said that I find that I get better results when I polish my second and third games balls after every set, yes, I said after every set. It may take a day or two to get it done but thats how I do it.
I currently use Snake-Oil and Brunswick High-Gloss polish, both are excellent polishes and between them I would rate them very close in what I am looking for in a ball polish...
When it comes to maintaining your gear there are really no set rules just some for starting off so I would say to you to experiment and then do what works for you and your bowling gear
