Best Polish for Gravity Shift
« on: September 20, 2008, 07:09:11 AM »
I'm looking to resurface my Shift before the tournament i'm going in and was wondering how everyone else would resurface their balls? Any preferences on polish to use and how much so it won't skid, hook 3 boards and hit like a wet noodle?

The Secret Sauce is not much of a Secret anymore...

In my opinion I still think it is the best polish out there. The shape of the backend will be determined by the underlying grit of the ball before polish.

Use less polish and less effort than anything out there...

Any questions....Message me!!!

Ya it's kind of a toss up on the Black magic, and the Snake oil, do you know which one goes longer before breaking? I need a good amount of length before it snaps due to our broken down lanes. How much polish would i have to put on so it doesn't skid and then only hook 3 boards?

You better be darned careful about how much Black Magic you use and how you apply it. With medium heavy doses I have found it to reduce the backend and delay the hook a LOT. Caution is advised.

If you want the Shift to be close to stock, I suggest, based on my own experiments, to do either of the following:
1. Sand/Resurreection to 800 grit/1000 grit and use a healthy dose Of Snake Oil,
OR
2. Sand to 600 grit and use a good, firm dose of Secret Sauce.

Be careful because the Shift is a particle pearl. It's a cautious balance between length and lane grab.

Do not go overboard with amounts of polish or pressure. You can always apply more. It is very difficult to back off. You almost always have to start from scratch - very annoying.
