I can't for the life of me, when cleaning a ball or polishing, get the surface tacky at all, and I'm using a spinner (Vertex 1/2hp).

I've tried with Storm Xtra Clean, Powerhouse Energizer Cleaner (smells nice

), Clean 'n Dull and Legends (good god that stuff smells

). Although, the Legends cleaner does get the ball tacky when done by hand, but I wanna use my spinner.

If I'm sanding with Abralon pads it's a different story, I have no problem getting a ball tacky.

I bought terry cloth towels, cheap shop towels, micro-fiber towels, even paper towels.

Nothing happens, I don't get it!

Something's very wrong with some parts of your spinner accessories. I have never EVER known Legends or Clean and Dull make balls so tacky your hand squeaks as you touch any part of the ball. Make sure everyhting you use is as clean as it should be.

And what's this about "I wanna use my spinner" crap? If you don't need to, why bother? If Legends makes it tacky by hand and you NEED it tacky, then first clean it with the spinner (iiiiif you rrrreeeaaalllllly must) and then apply some by hand. why make life more difficult than it already is?

Seriously, C&D and Legends cleaner make my stuff tacky, clean or polished, with spinner or by hand, EVERY TIME. Sometimes I wonder about just how tacky it is; maybe somethings is bad with how tacky my balls (bowling) do get.

I can only suspect that something is wrong with your towels or cloths or balls or your procedures. I can'tsay which without seeing you do something. Maybe someone else has some idea; I love to know why myself. Wish I had more to offer.

First of all, how many games do you have on these bowling balls? Reason that I ask, is because if you have alot of games on them, there may be enough oil in the cover that the heat caused by the towel with the use of a spinner may just bring out the oil to where you are not able to get it all off, thus causing the continuous slimy feel to the cover. If this is the case, gives those balls a good hot water bath and then put the ball on the spinner with some Clean and Dull or Legends. It will make a big difference.

There have been times that even using Clean and Dull, there was enough oil in the cover that came to the surface that I could not get it all off. If in doubt, do the baths in hot water to these balls and then do the spinner to finalize the rejuvination.

Greg T - My fingers aren't that greasy...

Twohand - The ball is a brand new Black Widow Pearl with 9 games (as of today), and I cleaned it every 3rd game by hand.

charlest - Hey, don't make fun of my towels...

I thought I could get that new squeak feel. My BWP was so tacky when I got it, gripped my skin. The NVS seems to be like that too, although I don't have one.

Less work using the spinner, plus It goes zzzoooommmmm

Clean & Dull made my stuff so tacky they almost took the skin off my fingers. I could nearly hold the ball upside down in the palm of my hand without using the finger holes.

The surface feels smooth and looks clean, but I just don't feel that tackiness. Just about every proshop I've had clean a ball, always came out super tacky.

I use CND exclusively and it leaves it tacky EVERY time. Sounds to me like cheap terry cloth towels may be the culprit. I had a similar experience when I first bought my spinner and started cleaning my own stuff. I had bought some cheap thin hand towels from a dollar store and they were garbage. Make sure you get some decent quality ones. Also, after I clean with the CND, I spray the ball while spinning with clean water and dry it with a micro fiber towel while still spinning.

Yes, I am, in total defiance of how Carl and Scoot say to use it (grey pad, lightly, by hand). You need to make sure to wipe it off with a damp towel afterwards, that's critical. If you're not using a wet towel at the end, then C&D can leave a residue that will reduce the stickiness.

If the ball is clean it will feel tacky. Most of the ball cleaners and even some other products like Simple Green will do the job if you'll give them a chance.
What I mean is this. Spray the ball down and then WAIT 30 SECONDS before wiping it off. Most guys spray and immediately wipe the product off, which doesn't give it time to start breaking down the oil. It will get some of the dirt off immediately, but you need to give it some time to do it's job for the oil. The oil residue is what you're feeling if it's not tacky.

Sorry how you feel, but I totally support what Carl says about the application of C&D.

I'm not saying that doesn't work or that it doesn't work better (haven't tried it, frankly, as I don't have any grey or white pads and can't find them here). Simply that I get good results that I'm happy with by using it with a spinner.

hi, i personally use Tenth Frame XXXcleaner by hand to clean the ball. it sure leaves the ball tacky after wards.
