i just upped grits from 800 grit to 1000 grit, and im getting alot more grip, i was wondering, should i up to 1500? my friend works in a proshop and he does this for free, and he puts on a matte finish, then polishes it, i mean i practice my rotation, so that might be it too, lol, so should i go upto 1500? its a storm triple xtreme

Bowling comes with a passion, if you have that passion, you will be a great bowler, just keep practicing.

When you say "grip", do you mean a sharper reaction and a stronger breakpoint? That would make sense, anything else would make me wonder: The higher the grit, the later the ball will grab (and skip longer on oil). But this does not necessarily mean "more" grip or more hook. It is just a different traction that changes ball reaction.

Low grits down to 400 grit make the ball grab the lane earlier, so the ball will make a smoother overall curve hook and become prone to burn out on short patterns. Obviously, the higher grits match your game and lane conditions well.

Only other alternative is that the 800 grit paper was worn out and the 1000 grit was fresh.

You are probably on the money though Dizzy.
