HK22 - Surface Adjustments
« on: November 07, 2022, 10:06:49 AM »
How tweakable is this new cover? Been a very long time since I've been on this site...

1. Any feedback on once it goes down and back up again is it almost as good as box (I realize it's nearly impossible to duplicate factory finishes...)?

2. If one is yes, what's the best ways to achieve this?

Thanks.

What is HK22? Company? Ball?

HK22 is the new coverstock base being used by the seven Brunswick brands.  For example, the Columbia300 Top Speed.  Defender Hybrid also using a version of it.

Dave,

I got a Hammer 3d Offset Attack, and out of box it was really clean (for me and here in Charlotte, NC) so i hit the surface with 3000 Saiair, and got it to pick up about 4 foot sooner. So, for me, surface tweak helped immensely and still get that back end kick. I hope this helps.

It seems like most of the HK22 covers come with the Crown Factory Compound that makes the balls pretty clean in the fronts with a pretty strong backend. My pin down Brutal Collision was going too long and too angular for what I wanted it for, so I hit it with a 3000 pad to knock the shine off and it had the ball start up earlier but it did not kill or smooth out the reaction much.  If anything, it made it stronger on the backend and didn't slow down any of the continuation.
