Has anybody ponied up $50 and tried Hook Juice Home Edition yet

$50 for one treatment and you do it every 50 games. That bucket you mix up better do a bunch of balls.

I am not for or against Hook Juice - however, show me where in the USBC Equipment Specifications and Certifications Manual where it says you cannot chemically alter a ball at all? The manual specifically states the following in regards to chemicals:

The use of chemicals, or other methods, to change the hardness of the surface of the ball after it is manufactured is prohibited.

All that says to me is do not use chemicals to change hardness, it does not say do not use chemicals. Cleaners are chemicals. The only ones they ban during competition are the ones that change hardness. I am assuming that Hook Juice is not changing the surface hardness via chemicals (like acetone). The question really is then, if it's not changing surface hardness and if it's not snake oil, what is it doing and should it be legal?

However, you bring up a good point - Hook Juice is not on the USBC approved to use cleaner/polish list. But is it a ball cleaner or a polish? Is it neither? The USBC only regulates cleaners and polishes and puts those into approved and non-approved lists...

It says don't put balls with sharp edges or cracks in it.

Also it can discolor the logos.

You might want to check that list yourself, denatured alcohol is approved for anytime use.

Always wondered if that included alcohol denatured with MEK which I guess some is. That is why I only use IPA plus its better for dissolving oil without leaving residue.

WE ALL KNOW ACETONE IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE USED. I AM NEITHER SHOOTING DOWN, OR ADVOCATING ITS USE.

What I am saying is that nobody is trying to sell me acetone and telling me it is fine to use it on my bowling ball when they know it isnâ€™t legal to use.

Mr. Hickland IS trying to sell this stuff, and telling everyone it is fine, it is great, come get you some right now cause you need it.

Let him produce USBC certification that it is, in fact, legal to use, and I will get off of him and his hook juice, and get on USBCâ€™s ass for certifying a product that chemically alters a balls composition from it initial configuration.

Unless you prove this is a USBC approved product no one should consider it regardless if it's $50 or $5.

Provide that list with your product on it and then if people want to waste their $50 at least they would know its USBC approved.
