I only use Quantums. I have the Aqua Marine, 4 Forest Greens, 2 Midnight Blues, the Scarlet urethane, Jade, Sage, Denim 2.0, Imperial, and the Violet hook (original, not the  POS bowlingball.com remake).

My Forest Green is still the go to ball 20 years later. Rolls well and no problems with carry. Truly a remakable ball.

As for my Imperial, It is so so at times. Very even rolling, nothing herky jerky in the motion at all. Stronger than all the resin equipment but not as strong as the Jade. Rolls well and hits well but I probably leave more flat 7s with this ball than anything else in my bag, including the urethane Scarlet (I am a lefty).

Would I buy another one? Absoluely. Roll and hit is no different than any other ball on the market today from what I see against teammates and competition.

I won a tourney this summer with my Midnight Blue and shot 300 the final game to win on a non-house shot pattern. So anyone trying to tell you that the covers are too old to handle today's oil other than a THS....I would disagree.

I'm trying to remember which Quantums had Proactive... Jade, Jade Tour, Navy, Slate Blue, and the Imperial if I remember correctly.  I had the Jade and Imperial and both rolled fine on today's oils.  Actually a little strong on light oil.

I also had the Fire, Violet, Forest Green, and Raven.  Those are not proactive coverstocks, but all rolled great on THS.  I wish I kept the Fire and Violet -- I will never part with my Raven.

That mushroom core is such a winner.  You might also want to pick up a NIB Morich Locomotion, Perpetual Motion, or Aggressive Motion.  All of those have the mushroom core but modern coverstocks.  Look on eBay. 

I was a Quantum fan back in the days of the Quantums. My 4 favorite Quantums were the Fire, Violet, Forest Green, and Raven. I had two 300's (one scantioned and one not scantioned) with the Forest Green Quantum. I held on to that ball and still used it some as late as 1+ years ago at which time I had back surgery and was forced to drop from 15# to 12# balls, so I sold it.

Thanks for all the response guys. I was thinking of getting some old Brunswick/Quantum bowling balls online out of nostalgia, and was trying to see if I should try to drill them a little more aggressive than my current equipment if you guys thought it was much weaker than modern equipment.

Older Brunswick covers hold up pretty good, and their particle covers held up better than other balls particle covers.  However, todays resin covers hold up better than those of the early 90's, or during the particle era in general.
