I feel a clean bowling ball is a bowlers best tool to first understand a lane pattern and then combat said lane condition. Depending on rev's, the actual amount of surface that touches a bowling ball is a 1/5" of an inch strip that is ~105" to ~215" long. So what happens if that surface is never the same and always losing it's ability absorb oil?
It causes inconsistent reactions. Not only that, but it aides in the advancement of oil down the lane causing quicker breakdown of the pattern.
Cleaning the surface of the bowling ball helps keep a constant and fresh surface. Cleaning also removes the oil that your bowling ball will eventually absorb if given time, which will prevent ball death. Using a cleaner every shot you'll notice that when playing a line by yourself, you can keep the line longer with less adjustments of your feet and target.
Is it a little much to clean every shot? For some yes, but I truly don't think so, it takes 2 seconds to wipe down the track of the ball during your pre-shot routine. Every strike shot I wipe the bowling ball down with a Remedy damp microfiber cloth. Fold a microfiber cloth in 4th's and spray 10 sprays of Remedy RX and you'll be good to go for a whole game. Apply more cleaner as necessary.
Try it during league for two weeks to see if there's a difference. Oh and make sure you hit the same mark every shot
