Re-Polishing???
« on: January 20, 2010, 08:46:54 PM »
I have a polished pearl and I was wondering how often I need to have it re-polished? Do you guys recomend to do that after a certain number of games and do you take the old polish off first? Thanks

I will just throw a little hand polish on a ball every month or two. Then maybe use a spinner once a season. I also usually don't remove the old polish first since it is usually getting dull and thats why it needs to be polished anyways.

i think ebonite says every 10 games!

but in reality I think once a month would be fine unless its the only ball your using and your bowling say 10 games a week.

i just clean the ball, then apply polish. after 60-100 games i re-sand and apply polish

I'd clean the ball after each use, and just think about surface work once the track area starts tracking out - it becomes dull, and the ball will have less length. Sometimes, this can be a wanted effect, but that's when you should IMHO consider a surface refreshment.
In any way, make sure that the whole surface area receives an even treatment - that is, re-sanding it from 4 or 6 sides to the appropriate grit, and evenly apply polish or compound on top of that.- this ensures that the ball remains round and complys to regulations.
