I was telling a friend about something close to this I saw last week with a friends ball.
He asked me, carry down or roll out?
I had no really answer, so I too will be interested some thoughts that you receive.
Those are some pretty strong balls with a matte finish. I really wonder if you're seeing (the results of) carrydown or if the midlane is just getting really dry, really fast. Not sure where you're playing and where everyone else is playing. If there are people using plastic or urethane in your league or in the league before yours, then it could be carrydown. But unless you're extremely speed dominant, I'm inclined to think these strong balls are burning up.
Also, there's that old bugaboo called "tweener hell": caught between strokers playing down and in and crankers playing much deeper. They could be burning some areas up and pushing oil left/right and changing your playing area.
When you see this next, try some strong pearl or polished solid that has a strongish backend. If that retains energy, it's getting too dry. It that also skids, check some other areas of the lane for a better reaction.
