This is my first year bowling in over 10 years. I started the season by purchasing a Hammer Switch Blade. I had a hard time getting this ball to hook, I took the polish off and then started sanding it down, and continued going down grits to see what the ball would do. I ended up buying a strong ball, track animal, and havn't been using my switch blade. After changing my release I've realized the problem with the switch blade wasn't the ball or the coverstock, it was the amount of side roll I was putting on the ball. Now that I know how to throw it properly to get it to hook it burns up real fast since it's sanded down so much. Out of box finish is 1000 grit polished, I would like a little less gritt, possibly 800 and then polished. My question is how much will the grit effect it once it's polished? Does it matter if I take it from 500 which is what it's at now, to 800? Can I just stick it in a lustre king? Reall hate having a ball sit in my bag I can't use.... suggestions?
I really want the ball for medium lane conditions and when the lanes become very wet/dry. I just need this thing to skid down the lane some more and save its energy for the pocket and not the middle of the lane.
