question about water bath
« on: April 06, 2007, 01:29:15 AM »
I am going to be giving my fury a hot water bath in the near future, and i just had a couple of questions about it. Someone told me that there would be no need to cover weight hole and the thumb hole since it does not have the rubber grips in them. I do have a slug in the thumb though. wouldnt the water just soak right into the ball if i dont cover up those holes? i would imagine that i would not want that to happen. secondly, how long do you let the ball soak roughly before removing it and changing the water?

Use duct tape to cover the holes, it makes it easier and takes less time to dry the ball.  Use a 5 gallon bucket, set the ball on a cup, and fill the water up to the holes.

I didn't use duct tape for my first bath and it took about a week for my grips to dry...next time I'm either gonna take them out or put duct tape on them. But what I do is drop the ball in for about 10 minutes before emptying and refilling. I'll do this about 3 or 4 times and you're good to go. My Paradigm Passion was pretty oil soaked and after doing this it was literally just like new. Hope that helps!

so i take it that the idea is that the water does actually soak into the ball by not covering the holes, but it will dry out, or evaporate, unlike the oil?

Well, yeah. Try leaving a drop of water and a drop oil on a piece of paper. See which drys out earlier. (Science for kids)

I did soak my ball without taping it and later got my 1st 300 game with it.
