I Have Come Across The Most Amazing Polish
« on: April 22, 2013, 07:36:56 PM »
A few month's back I was just searching around the internet for some extreme polishes....stuff that would go beyond anything I have used before and I believe I have found it.  In my search that day I came across a website for a product called Go-Shine. It is designed for auto's and a myriad of other surfaces, and they clkaim on their website, which is www.go-shine.com , the claim that go-shine's surface is so slippery that nothing sticks, so I figured what the hay, I'll try it.  I had to call in the order, one cannot order it via online.

The first thing I tried it on was my favorite ball of all time, which doesn't mean anything anymore since the center I bowl at doesn't put out anywhere near the volume of ol they did 5 years ago when I bought it. I went as far as I could before finding this polish with the surface & polishes, going as far as humanly possible. Put this stuff on the ball.....and when they claim it is so slippery that nothing sticks to it they weren't kidding, my first few shots with the ball my balance hand nearly fell off the ball!!! After a couple of games of practice with this visionary ball, I went into my proshop I told my proshop guy about what I bought and had him feel the ball and there was no tac on the ball at all.....even though I can't use that ball regularly even now, I was able to get a few frames out of it in league before I had to switch.

The next ball I tried it on was my seismic desperado. I like the ball but it just isn't a regular roster member for my 4 ball bag. that ball worked best for me standing way left and throwing around the first arrow(as a lefty) rather than a straighter more direct line, which I prefer to play w/my reactive equipment. If I tried to throw the desperado straight up the 2nd arrow , if I get to the  1-2 pocket ikt doesn't get the drive I would need to really be effective.

So....just as an experiment , I took my desperado down to 180 grit, and loaded it up with this go-shine polish, and what I got was an ability to use that ball if I wanted to on more straighter inside lines and the polish gave me the extra length I wanted out of the ball and the lower grit made it dig in when it got to the end of the oil. I also put some on my morich pioneer with good results.

If you need to , or just want to get more length and less reaction to a greater degree than most other stuff available, give it a try, it seems to work, and the best part of this is that this polish is NOT wax based so it won't clog the pores.

I would be more worried about silicone additives than waxes...

Clean n Sheen is an amazing gritty polish (not sure how else to explain it)
Comes on the Hammer Arson Low Flare, been using it on other equipment.
adds length and smoothness to your shot shape, really good stuff.
To me, most polishes add length, but increase the reaction off the friction, this does not do that at all.
Arson low flare is a 500 finish and then the clean n sheen makes it a 1500 grit matte finish. super predictable and smooth

15000 grit matte finish? Sounds like it would look like a diamond gloss at that grit!!

i would worry about them polishes people dont really use, similar to the high polish they use to do commercial floors in buildings.  trying to remove it after your find out its bad would be annoying also.

I had to try Go-Shine too - just got it via fedex - and just put it on my straight ball.  I have always liked the  finish on a new polyester straight ball.  This polish feels just like that.  Won't be able to try it before next Monday.

Will try it on my car soon.

My personal favorite hands down is 3M Finesse-it II

I'd probably stick with the products approved for use on bowling balls, but to each their own

A great straight ball polish.  Is at least as durable as regular ball polish

I have sub-micron polishing pads that will turn a ball into a glass like shiny marble. No waxes or sillicones to plug up the ball. Just pure surface.

Finesse-it is a great product. Have been using it for over 15 years. Gives nice length without exagerrating downlane motion. Made by 3-M too so a good company behind it.

Have you got a part number or online source for this?

I don't. My father used them for work for polishing scratches out of plexiglass.  I know they are tin oxide, aluminum oxide, and cerium oxide.  I thought that it would allow the ball to get down the lane even easier and react even harder off the friction.  It allows the ball to get down the lane a ton but there is a point where it starts taming the reaction off of friction.  It depends a lot on what surface you start with underneath and how many grit steps between the final grit that you use.  The ball I shined up to a shiny marble didn't hook much.  I went step by step with as many grits in between as possible.

I did find this

http://www.gravescompany.com/polishin.htm

Diamond polishing powder up to 200,000 grit.. yes 200 thousand..  .1 micron

This is used for polishing gems. You can also look up rock polishing powder or supplies.

They sell raw oxide powders used for polishing rocks.

Have fun.

I have not personally found the need to use any other polish other than Lane 1 Secret Sauce when I want a super clean and smooth finish.
