I need a good ball polish
« on: April 03, 2005, 04:04:25 AM »
Does anyone know which company makes the best polish?  By best I mean which one will give me the most length.  I applied Storm Xtra Shine on my ball by hand, but I did not notice any change in length.

I recently tried Meguiar's Step 2 Deep Diamond Polish, a very good car polish found in auto stores, to polish my Hammer High Rev and Storm Ace.  It gave both balls a nice polished finish with the tackiness that makes it grip to the lane better.  I like the reaction I got on the lanes with Meguiar's polish.  By far, it's better than Storm's Moon Polish and Black Magic Polish.

I use Storm Xtra Shine, and then apply docs elixer afterwards. Other than help with oil cleanup the Doc's seems to increase length SLIGHTLY. Works well for me. For what its worth, I am also applying it (most of the time) to a Pearlized Pulse, so it goes long anyways. Oh, and I use a spinner and polish it with polishing cloth until it is warm to the touch.

Your ball did not get Xtra length after putting X-tra shine on it?

I couldnt believe that, it puts the cover at 3500 grit!

Yes, I did see extra length with the xtra shine. I was just saying that the Docs seemed to make a small difference even after the high polish. Maybe not a BIG difference but a difference none the less. The Docs can also be applied without a spinner if you so chose.

I use 3M Finesse IT (available at auto parts stores) and it does an excellent job of giving extra length.  As with any polish it is necessary to apply with a spinner.  You need to apply enough pressure so that it is warm to the touch.
