The other day I was playing with surfaces. I tried something and wasn't sure if anyone else already does this or what. I applied Ebonite Factory Finsih to my old X-Factor with an abrilon pad. I was very impressed with the results. Very clean and controlable. Does anyone else do this?

Me: "These lanes are tight. I have 2 boards!"
My buddy with front 8: "Me too!"
Me: "Yeah, but yours both have arrows on them, and an arrow in between!"
-
Added polish w/ abralon pad...hmm. Interesting.
So what's the result? Shine or dulled?
-
What side of the Abralon are you using to apply the polish? Are you buffing the polish in by hand with another towel or something when done with the Abralon?
-
The side and grit of your abralon pad used is pretty important to include. Also did the ball come out more sheen then or did it still polish as per the norm?
I know I've used a worn out 4k abralon pad as polish applicator before and it works just fine, using the abrasive side.
-
I'm using the corse side, and anywheres from 4k down to 500. Its kinda like Brunswick rough and buff. It works for me.

Just straight on the corse side and laying on the ball.

I have done this also with sandpaper put your polish with the sanding...It acts as a buffer on the sanding. gives a nice finish
-
Interesting, but are the results controllable or I guess I should say, repeatable? I would like to be able to duplicate the results especially if I found something that works, but it seems like using a worn Abralon pad would make the results somewhat hit or miss.

Were you on a spinner? or doing this by hand?
useless it's a fairly new pad, I would think the results would be a higher grit every use.

New Pad, firm pressure, on a spinner. Easy to duplicate. Works well for me.

I just can't imagine what it might have done to the cover's surface.
What did you think you would up with??? Please explain.
I hear what you said you did. I am curious what the results are and how it acts as compared to straight polish (which one you used is also VERY important) and compared to whichever grit you used.

i would assume it would just be more of a dull shine to it, not like a straight polish. i've tried it before with a really old 4000 abralon pad and some black magic polish and i got mixed results. It didn't quite work out to my game so i just polished it with a rag on a spinner

Depending on the pad, it almost replicates the Rough n' Buff finish Brunswick uses. Won't read early in the heads but still reads friction off the spot. Doesn't give you back end but control. Something to play around with. I'll try to post some pictures and videos.
