My 2 cents, which may differ from others:
Pearlized coverstocks become pearlized by different methods in each manufacturer. Such machinations produce a different coverstock, in word (technically) and in deed (in practice). Sanding will produce different ball reactions in each manufacturer, given the different pearlization methods.
You should not expect any particular reaction, but take what you see as the difference and use it to your advantage.
You might have to aim your particular question at both the manufacturer's (in this case, Brunswick's) technical representative AND their chemical engineers who created the particular pearlization technique.
