Is this legal??????
« on: June 09, 2004, 10:27:27 AM »
Call me an idoit, but is it legal to use Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound to polish up a ball?  If it isn't, how does one know if the coverstock has been illegally prepared.  Just curious?

I've done this with Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound in the Red container, but the rubbing compound changes (raises) the grit of the ball.

Brandon, not sure where you're getting your information.  If you can't polish your ball during league, why does ABC have their approved list.  I can't find anything in the rule book that says it has to be applied with a machine.

There is a section that states that if you scuff a ball, you must do the entire ball, not just the track area.  This, however cannot be done during league.

Post the chapter/section from the rule book where you got this information.

You may not use an abbrasive during competition.  You may use a polish or a cleaner if you wish, but you must select your product from a list ABC has put together.  You must treat the entire surface of the ball if you do this...however, I doubt anybody is going to look over your shoulder to be sure that you do.  You are on the honor system as far as that goes.

For a nice article on this subject...
