Is this possible? Ball cleaning issue...

I don't use a towel between shots and will use Liquid Nitro or other ball cleaners similar to it at the end of a session.  On polished ball I just use the cleaner, but on matte/dull balls I'll use the cleaner and a scotchbrite pad to keep the ball dull.

Just gave one of my balls a bath in hot water and dawn and didn't really notice that much oil on the surface of the water.  I have it in the sun drying now and no oil is being drawn to the top.

Is my cleaning routine really keeping my equipment that oil free?

It definitely minimizes that absorption of oil to a great extent.  It also depends as to the number of games the ball has.  I know a ball driller in my hometown that does the same thing.  He rarely wipes the ball off between shots, but uses Energizer Cleaner after each session and then puts the ball on the spinner regularly to freshen the surface weekly.

I just picked up a spinner so the ball in question was just hit with 320 on 6 sides.  After it dries I'll return it to it's previous surface.

Also...  How bad for a ball is it if soaks in hot, soapy water for about 30 minutes if I don't cover the holes?  I have always given my stuff a chance to dry out before using them again.

I would think that it would slowly dissolve the glue in inserts? (If used.)
If not, I'm sure you're okay.

Highly doubt that would even be an issue... I'm refering to the core or core filler possibly absorbing water...

The danger that you face when not covering the holes, is if the water is hot enough that it heats up the core/filler and cover significantly, and when you take out the water, they start contracting, and since they contract at different rates, they might crack.  That's mainly why people cover the holes, just to prevent any separation of core from cover.  But I assume that this hasn't happened to you, so you're fine.  I'm not sure, but I don't think you should worry about them aborbing the water.  The water would likely find a way to migrate and evaporate from the ball like it does normally, I'd assume it just might take a little longer.  Also, in theory if you leave the ball in the water for a while, it'd probably go through the cover to the filler anyways, so I doubt it's a big problem.  This is just off of experience though, as I've left some holes uncovered before.  Others may have had different experiences than I.
