GoJo On Bowling Ball

Just curious. Has anyone ever tried this grease remover on a ball. I know that it breaks down grease and oil on your hands better than any cleaner I have seen. It has a fine grit to it so I would assume you could not use it on a spinner.

I tried it on a Pluto just out of curiosity, the ball was certainly clean and tacky. I dont know how the ball will react.

I would be careful of 2 things using GOJO -
1.) The grit wall alter the surface of the ball if used repeatedly and with pressure.
2.) The grit may actually inhibit some of the porosity of the coverstock by "clogging" the microscopic pores in the coverstock.

IMHO, you can get a good clean by using some of the citrus degreaser and an alcohol mix. No grit to worry about, and it also does a very good job of breaking up the oil. Just my $0.02 worth.

it seems like it would work, as long as it isn't too strong and eats away at the coverstock.  It also seems like you would be able to use it on a spinner if you wanted to refresh the surface of a duller ball

a long time ago I used Fast Orange on my bowling balls.  It is super gritty and took the ball down to a very matte dull sheen.  Don't know how well it cleaned. Once rinsed and dried it seemed very tacky though.

I wouldn't use it for the simple fact most versions of Gojo contain petroleum distillates.  If they would list what they are I might say it's safe, but I'd like to know what I'm putting on my equipment.

I used it ( and another product that was very similar ) years ago on regular urethane stuff as well as first generation reactives. I used it to get the oil/dirt/grime off of and out of the ball, then used an alcohol/simple green mixture to make sure the balls surface was residue free.

 It worked fine back then, but I wouldn't have a clue how it would affect modern coverstocks.

  If you've already used it on the Pluto, I might continue to use it on that ball and watch for any signs of lost performance, then base my decisions on what I saw with it.

I will continue to use it on the Pluto and see what gives. I applied it by hand as I was not comfortable with using the spinner with the amount of grit in the GoJo.

I am convinced that it will break down oil. Just not sure about what it will do to the cover.

I have used GoJo and there is a way to get the grit out of it.  If you leave grease for example in the GoJo can from when you work on your car from off your hands, the Gojo will go to work on the residue grease and break down itself and will liquify almost into an oil.  The heavier grit material which is pumice I believe will sink and collect on the bottom of the can and you can dab a towel into the "broken down" Gojo without getting the gritty pumice on the ball surface.

I have actually seen it breakdown before.
I have not tried the Gojo, but think I will on a couple of my old balls.
