Columbia Formula --2nd (blemished)

I bought a Columbia Formula 2nd that has a couple of inch long nicks in the coverstock.  It is a particle coverstock.  One of the nicks seems to be in my ball's track.  Question is will this have any effect on the ball's performance & is there a way to fill in the nicks?  Thanks for your help.

Unless they are deep, don't worry about it.  Many balls have massive labels that end up in your track.  A bad plug job that leaves a hump will make the ball jump a bit when it makes contact with the lane, but scratches are not much of a problem.  When the ball needs a resurface, they will probably be removed anyway.

They are about 1/8 of an inch wide & definitely too deep to be removed by resurfacing.  Hard to tell, but I would guess that they about 1/16 of an inch deep.  Change your opinion?  thanks

No, you'll be fine.  No one wants things like that to happen, but there are much more important things to worry about.  I never used to like plugs in my track, but I've shot 2 honor scores with such balls.  My new Animal has a huge logo with deep ingraving that's mostly in my track.  Rolls fine.

Thanks for the response.  My pro shop guy agreed with you.  He said it was machine damage from the ball return & he will fill in the gouges when he gets some plug material prepared this week. Just irritating that this "machine damge" happened the first night I bought the ball.  Oh well, at least it is a 2nd ball.
