Duplicating the Compound Finish
« on: February 28, 2009, 10:03:36 AM »
Does anyone know how to get the equivalent compound finish using Abralon pads and Powerhouse Factory Finish polish?

i'm thinking 500 grit abralon and then the polish.

it is for a friends MoRich Awesome Revs.

According to MoRich's web site:
http://www.morichbowling.com/Products/Resurfacing.htm

This is the finish for the Awesome revs:
2) Rough Buff/Compound (Awesome Revs, Awesome Flip, Shock & Awe)

I'm fairly sure no polish will ever emulate the finish provided by Brunswick's Rough Buff. RB usually does not put any shine on the ball and all polishes do.

Most times RB is applied over a 220 grit sanding. Some Brunswick balls use a slightly finer sanding (320 - 400 grit). BrunsRico, a former Brunswick rep who posts here now under the JustRico userid, has said here that straight 2000 - 4000 grit Abralon pad can best emulate the RB finish. I'd try first 2000 grit Abralon, then, if needed, take it to 4000 grit Abralon.

Cheers Charlest.  Will try the 4000 Ab first and see what the bowler thinks of it.

I've used turtle wax red rubbing compound to do this. It's cheap too!

I agree with len, turtle wax rubbing compound applied over 600 grit is what I have always used for my Danger Zones as well as quite a few other Powerkoil 18 solid covers on Lane 1 or newer BVP equipment. Works pretty good for me. And just like polish you can tune reaction by using different grits underneath.

i ended up going with the 4000 Abralon as the bowler has fairly low speed and revs.  He used it Tuesday night and loved it, bowling a 716 series, his best series in months.  thanks for the advice ppl
