The house I bowl at on Fridays is really hooking this year. I've been switching off between my original Paridigm (as close to box as I can get it) and an original X Factor that is 2000 abralon and heavily polished with Storm Extra. I would like to get just a little more length on the X and was wondering if one of the powerhouse products (extender or delayed) would do more than the Extra?

You can also try Beans Secret Sauce. Works great for length.

Try using much less surface underneath the polish, such as 4000 abralon, then add a few coats (if necessary) of any of the high gloss polishes.

Track's Delayed Reaction will add length AND, more importantly, reduce the backend.

I would recommend taking the surface up to 4000 abralon, and adding a non-abrasive polish. This will give you the length you desire, without enhancing the backend movement of the ball. There are many different polishes out there to choose from, but I like the Ultimate Black Magic XL personally. Good luck.

Brunswick/Neo-Tacs Control-It on top of 4000 abralon still works wonders as well.

This is a good point. Be sure the polish you are using doesn't have any abraisives in it. And raising the underlying grit up will also help add length.

I'm not real familiar with the Powerhouse Delayed Reaction or Extender. Which one is more powerful for length and less reaction off the spot??? Charlest?

I've been meaning to play with a few polishes to help aid this problem, but haven't had a chance to buy any. I have 3 polishes currently: Powerhouse FF (has abraisives, not good for this), L/LM FF polish, and Beans. I prefer the LM polish because it gives the smoothest reaction of the three I have. The beans makes it really clean through the front part, but its still sharp when it hits friction. Not as strong as Powerhouse FF, but its still not giving any push. The LM does delay a little, but similar to JohnN, I don't have anything that will get it through the friction that extra foot.

Delayed reaction, ultimate xxx and control-it all use silicone additives to enhance length and reduce back-end performance. They all will produce a good repeatable finish when applied to a 2000 to 4000 grit wet sanded shell. Using a rougher base surface it not advisable for consistent use by hand.

My findings are the same as Khamul's

Extender finish, I believe, just has lots of abrasives and not the silicones that Delayed and Control-It have.

If JohnN originally sanded to 2000 Abralon and used Storm's Xtra Shine, it is no longer at 2000 Abralon, but is finer and smoother, depending onhow much XS he used and how hard he pressed. The exact number is a complete unknown. That is why I suggested just applying Delayed Reaction over it.

I have found Delayed Reaction somewhat easier to get results with over Control-It, which may contain less silicone (they call it a "slip agent"). In any case, to remove them, you need to re-sand the ball thoroughly.

I picked up some Delayed Reaction and applied it. We'll see what happens Friday. The backends at this place must be fried or something. It's not that I have a lot of hand. 2 weeks ago just for the heck of it I brought my Sauce out and threw 1 ball standing 8 boards right (lefty) of where I was throwing the Paradigm (original) from and it went Brooklyn. My tuesday night house is just the opposite-heavy oil. Guess it will make me a better bowler.

The Delayed Reaction seemed to give me a little more length but didn't hurt the backend reaction.The alleys seemed a little olier so I didn't start with the X-Factor but switched to it in the 7th frame of the 3rd game and finished with XXSplitXXX.Ball had a nice smooth reaction with a strong finish.

I suspect something was not right. DR ALWAYS reduces the backend.

Don't treat Delayed Reaction like any other polish. Follow the directions EXPLICITLY! It will reduce the backend.

I didn't want to change the ball reaction a lot. Just wanted to add a little length and slightly reduce the backend. When I applied the DR I did so sparingly with the spinner on 6 sides. Figured it was easier to take a little reaction off at a time rather than a lot the first time and have to add reaction back. I guess instead of "strong finish" I should have said good continuation.

Oh, Okay. A little at a time is proper. I always preach that. If you've gotten what you need, terrific. I just didn't get that from what you said or the way you said that. That's why I posted the previous reply. Sorry.
