My new oil extraction oven
« on: February 26, 2015, 11:25:33 AM »
So I picked up this Gear Guide stainless steel food dehydrator at auction (new) for $70.  Temp range is 95*-155*.  I set the dial to 125* and monitored temps with a digital probe and it held temp from 122*-127*.  I put my Reax in and after just 20 minutes the cover was coated in oil, wiped/cleaned put it back in.  I did this every 20 minutes and after 100 total minutes it was no longer sweating.  Also did the same with my hy-road pearl (only took 60 minutes) and my Mastermind.  Nothing came out of the Mastermind, which I found interesting.

Not a bad investment for $70.

I will have to try that.I have a great dehydrator I make jerky in all the time.I never even thought of that.I have been in the restaurant biss for many years and from time to time I do put my ball in the dishwasher and it works really well. The cycle is just less than three minutes but it gets to like 180 deg and the ball comes out sq
queeky clean.

and p.s. do you cover the front or just leave it open?mine have trays that slide in so I would have to make some kind of front door for it.
